It has a warm, sweet, fruity-herbaceous scent. Common Uses: Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is traditionally used as a relaxant and antidepressant. It has been used to reduce preoperative anxiety, and also to help relieve the mood swings associated with premenstrual syndrome.
It is also commonly used to help treat acne, allergies, boils, burns, cuts, dermatitis, earache, eczema, inflammations, insect bites, rashes, sensitive skin, teething pain, toothache, wounds, arthritis, inflamed joints, muscular pain, neuralgia, rheumatism and sprains. Nervous tension and anxiety: Put 1 drop of Roman Chamomile essential oil on a tissue and tuck it into a shirt pocket or bra strap, so that the odor rises throughout the day. Alternatively, Put 3 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil into a vaporizer and vaporize for 2 hours in the bedroom before going to sleep or in the place where the stressful situation occurs. Do not use the oil for more than a few days at a time, or the odor can become linked to the stressful situation itself and provoke the feelings of stress you are trying to alleviate Premenstrual Syndrome: Add 3 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil to 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and massage gently into the abdomen and lower back, using soft clockwise circular strokes.
Alternatively, run a warm bath (not too hot), and add 3 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil to the water before getting into it. Allow the uplifting scent to ease away the irritability and stress. Blends well with the following essential oils: Bergamot, Clary Sage, Oakmoss, Jasmine, Labdanum, Orange Blossom, Rose, Geranium and Lavender.
